Columbus McKinnon Engineered Products simplifies plant design with optimised CAD download center

Columbus McKinnon Engineered Products has revised its user-friendly CAD download center "CAD & go" for the configuration of Pfaff-silberblau products and geared the tool even more closely to user requirements. The optimised CAD & go platform, which was launched in April 2021, offers significantly improved performance, new content and even more functions.
The tool has a completely new look and feel with improved usability that enables intuitive operation. In addition to the actual product configuration, CAD & go offers the option of subsequent 3D/2D CAD data output. Users can integrate their configured Pfaff-silberblau CAD models directly into their own CAD design.
More functions with simpler operation
The new design of the CAD & go platform and its extended range of functions are now even more in line with the users' desire for simplified operation. No previous knowledge is required for use; CAD & go works completely intuitively – simply start the tool and configure the desired Pfaff-silberblau product.
CAD & go can be used anonymously and barrier-free by any website visitor, i.e. without registering or the hassle of having to enter user-related address and contact data. It has never been easier to create a custom 3D model, download it and immediately copy it into your own CAD drawing.
From the tile menu straight to the configuration screen
After starting CAD & go, a clear tile menu appears, which initially provides users with an overview of all configurable products. They can now simply select the desired product with a mouse click and are immediately taken to the corresponding configuration screen. The configuration is now much faster and easier despite the greater variety and variability of products.
New clearly arranged selection fields facilitate navigation. Each individual drop-down menu contains all available product-specific options to choose from. The configured product variants are displayed immediately in a preview.
Interested parties can send specific enquiries about the configured Pfaff-silberblau products to Columbus McKinnon directly from the configuration menu and thus benefit from a faster process.
Extensions in many product areas
The content of the SHE, HSE and MERKUR screw jacks in particular has been expanded. This also applies, for example, to designs with a protective tube and anti-turn device, with inductive or mechanical limit switches and with a motor mounting flange. In addition to the input fields for ratio and lift, there are now also input options for the different head designs and for the position of the shaft ends (left, right, both sides).
There are also extensions for safety worm gear screw jacks which are suitable for all applications where the safety of persons is critical and where the relevant standards apply, for example DIN EN 280 (mobile elevating work platforms), DIN EN 1493 (vehicle lifting platforms), DIN EN 1570 (safety requirements for lifting tables) or DIN EN 1756 (tail lifts).
Design quickly and conveniently
With just a few clicks of the mouse, individual CAD data for Pfaff-silberblau products can be conveniently created and downloaded as 2D or 3D models for further processing in the customer's own CAD program. Users can select the required CAD format and use the "Download" button to create the CAD model in the selected format. The CAD model is then generated and saved in the CAD & go download center.
Similar to a digital shopping basket, any number of CAD models can be saved and then downloaded or sent by e-mail. Since all configurations can always be cached, it is ensured at all times that the CAD data of the individual product configurations is never lost, for example if a glitch occurs (e.g. in the online connection).

In the South African Karoo semi-desert, astronomers working on the MeerKAT project are using 64 radio telescopes from the German manufacturer Vertex Antennentechnik to explore space. Lifting heavy loads under the harshest of conditions has always been one of the specialties for the jacking systems from Pfaff-silberblau Hebezeuge GmbH, with headquarters in the Southern German town of Kissing. With a clever special jacking system based on its versatile SHE worm-gear screw jacks, the company is now reducing downtimes for the steel industry’s galvanizing lines. The crucial feature: A special sensor monitors the temperature of the gearbox oil, and an active cooling circuit keeps it at the ideal level. Simultaneously, a contactless sensor constantly monitors the temperature at the screw and does not turn off the system unless there is a risk of overheating. In this way, system operators can ensure that their systems remain functional, but also help to minimize operational interruptions.
Reliable and safe performance is essential also in lifting applications for outdoor use as well as in aggressive and hygienically critical environmental conditions. AGV - ifting units for automotive industry
Columbus McKinnon Engineered Products is now supplying Pfaff-silberblau HEK10.1 lifting units as standard equipment to KUKA for integration into the KMP 1500 Mobile Platform. The lifting unit is a special development according to DIN EN 1494:2009-05 and EN 1570-1:2011+A1:2014 "Safety requirements for lifting tables" specifically for this automated guided vehicle, which moves around autonomously. With a lifting capacity of 10 kN per lifting unit, large loads can be moved around very flexibly on the small, manoeuvrable platform and moved vertically at speeds of 50 mm/s over a lifting path of 200 mm. Thanks to its two lifting units, the KMP 1500 transports loads weighing up to 1.5 tonnes safely through production and warehouses.
BETA EL winches for Bregenz Festival
Columbus McKinnon Engineered Products supplied three BGV C1 BETA wire rope winches for this year's stage programme on the lake stage of the Bregenz Festival. The winches adjust the heavy sections of the stage floor, the so-called collar. The movements of the stage character provide a real show experience at the performances of Rigoletto, an opera by Giuseppe Verdi, which ended this year's season in mid-August.
Complete upgrade of a blackboard system with PHOENIX telescopic lifting columns from Columbus McKinnon Engineered Products
As part of a modernisation project, the Heinz-Schönfeld lecture hall of the Technical University of Dresden was equipped with a new blackboard adjustment system. Instead of the cable winch system dating from the 1960s, a solution from Columbus McKinnon Engineered Products with PHOENIX telescopic lifting columns PH36 of the Pfaff-silberblau brand was implemented. With the new system, all five blackboard panels can now be automatically raised and lowered by 1,300 mm at a speed of 2 m/min at the push of a button. The system is very simple to operate. Each board in the lecture hall can be electrically moved individually via its own control element. The Columbus McKinnon Engineered Products system operates silently, which is a great advantage during events and lectures. Thanks to their backlash-free sliding guides, they guarantee absolute stability even when fully extended.
