Commissioning by remote of a hybrid lifting system for Kangy Angy in Australia

By | Apr 29, 2021

To service and maintain the new fleet, a purpose-built train maintenance facility has been built at Kangy Angy on the Transport for NSW Central Coast in Australia.

At this facility our Pfaff Verkehrstechnik Hybrid Lifting System was supplied which will be used for performing maintenance works of 6-car train units of the new Intercity Fleet in New South Wales.

The system has a load capacity of 336 tons (56 tons per wagon) and is installed in 500mm deep foundation pits.
In terms of functionality, the system corresponds to an Underfloor Lifting System, i.e. individual bogies can be pushed & removed under the lifted vehicle.

The special feature are the all-round adjustable body support elements which can be adjusted electrically in all directions (up/down, left/right, forwards/backwards).

We delivered the complete system to Australia in a total of 13 pcs/40 containers. The installation of the system was carried out by the local partner.

Commissioning, which had to be carried out remotely due to the Covid-19 regulations, was a very big challenge due to the complexity of the system and the existing time difference between Australia and Europe.
